Seed spitting contest anyone? National Watermelon Day is the perfect occasion to show your love of the sweet and tasty summer fruit! After you’ve scarfed down a couple slices, take a look through our juicy updates.
- Taking the high road: Well, any road really. Runners everywhere will want to check out RunningMap.com, where you can create, edit, save, share, and even add Flickr photos to your favorite running routes (the maps should look familiar, they’re using Yahoo! Maps). It’s easy. Just enter an address, click go, then start plotting your route by clicking the map or just browse through a selection of 13,000 already plotted running paths. Happy trails!
- Play, play, play: Yahoo! Music gives you three new reasons to press that play button! Check out the new full-featured playlist module that lets you play tracks, comment on your pals’ playlists, and browse playlists (both your’s and ones you’ve commented on). There’s also a new player for 30-second samples of songs (full songs for Yahoo! Music Unlimited subscribers) and an option to play subscription tracks in the browser. Read more here.

Another Yahoo product driven site is MapMyRun.com (www.mapmyrun.com) — although the mapping technology is driven by google, we use Yahoo’s YUI library for a rich user experience. MapMyRun.com takes your basic route creation / planning and then extends it to include the ability to find local running trails, add your runs and other workouts to personalized training logs, community features such as forums, and much more!
Check the site out and let me know what you think by dropping me feedback!
