From plumbers to accountants, corner markets to day spas, Yahoo! has been proudly helping small businesses succeed online for more than eight years. Today we’re taking our commitment to a new level and doing something we’ve never seen done before.
Beginning today, Yahoo! Web Hosting has gone “unlimited.”
Yahoo! Small Business customers have told us loud and clear that they want getting online to be as easy and painless as possible. Instead of worrying about things like “how many visitors can my site handle?” and “how many pages can I build?,” they’d rather focus on growing and running their business.
Our new Yahoo! Web Hosting plan offers unlimited disk space, unlimited data transfer, unlimited email storage, and 1,000 email accounts — all for $11.95 a month. This is shared hosting, so we won’t become the new home of General Motors any time soon. But for the very large majority of our small business customers who simply want a professional-looking site in hours, the hosting-purchase decision has suddenly become significantly easier.
Now small business owners can focus on growing their businesses and driving traffic to their sites, feeling comfortable that their hosting package will grow with their business.
Don’t know the first thing about web design? No sweat. We’ll continue to include award-winning, easy-to-use web site design tools that help business owners with little or no technical chops quickly build great-looking sites. You’ll also get a free domain name, 24×7 phone support, and a new 30-day satisfaction guarantee. And to help customers find these businesses online, Yahoo! Small Business will automatically optimize your site and submit it to top search engines. (I can think of a pretty good one.)
If you’re an existing customer, you’ve probably already received an email invitation with the option to migrate to this new plan. If you’re not an existing customer and want to get online, visit our site for more information.
Now go spread out. There’s plenty of room.

Do you offer web hosting for small businesses also in the UK and/or Germany?
Carlo | February 6th, 2008 at 9:41 am
A welcome update!
ZImbraFan | February 6th, 2008 at 11:46 am
Is unlimited email hosted on Zimbra or Y! consumer mail?
Andrew | February 6th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
Wow!
Dunno what to add. Way to go, you’ve got a customer! I just have no idea what to put on my site yet, but I know where to host it already!
Great job, great, great!
Go! Yahoo! Go! I love you! Thanks for Zimbra 5, too!

Is there any way a service like http://www.widgetplus.com could run on such a hosting service? Currently we run a tab so to speak, expanding the space we need as new users sign up.

What impact with the possible merger with Microsoft have on your services? I am a little wary of hosting my web site on a site owned by Microsoft.

Check http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/webhosting/hostingfeatures.php , and you’ll found they’re running PHP 4.3 and MySQL 4.1, both are out-of-date version.

This is really good news for anyone tired of the slow, overloaded hosting available from most services, or per gigabyte charges.
Are you going to offer easy integration with Yahoo! services, like groups and mail and news?

This is really good news!
ZImbraFan | February 7th, 2008 at 11:40 am
PHP 4 and MySQL 4 – that is VERY BAD. Old. Too old.

Thanks everyone for your comments, we appreciate your feedback. Keep them coming! @Mikael: Widget+ looks great. Please give our sales team a call at 866-781-9246 to talk about your business and your specific needs. @Carl: Thanks for your concern, but I’d like to reiterate that business remains the same. Our Board is thoughtfully evaluating the unsolicited proposal by Microsoft and no decisions have been made. @Technical Writing Geek: Great question. We offer tight integration with Yahoo! Mail. The Yahoo! Business Mail interface look similar to Yahoo! Mail, and you can switch between your consumer and business accounts very easily. In our publishing tools we include integration with messenger, maps, directions, and search. Integration with groups and news is a good idea. We’ll consider that for future releases. @ZImbraFan, our webhosting is supported by our award-winning Yahoo! Mail which we’ve tailored for small businesses. You can personalize your email accounts however you want like me@mycompany.com or sales@mycompany.com. @Christiane, we just launched web hosting services for Small Business in India, but do not yet offer web hosting in the UK or Germany. We do however offer small business services that can help grow your European business online through paid advertising programs, Yahoo! Local, and Yahoo! HotJobs. Check them out!

I am an existing costumer, I have no regret of choosing Yahoo Smallbusiness above other hosting services. I am very much satisfied with the performance of the service and the features and control panel are great. I just want to ask how to migrate mine to this new plan? I did not receive the said email.

Soiund s like a good deal. Can you host videos or streaming media with this un limited werbhosting plan ?
I have a tandem paragliding business and want to put videos online of flying a paraglider in the mountains near Seattle. I am in favor Yahoo and Microsoft combining the best of their products and giving Google more competition in search.

Well, the offer is pretty interesting. Also related to SEO, big issue only. If I buy the package in Europe, where will it be hosted? USA only?
This is important for us, I know Lycos hosts in country where you order.

Unlimited web hosting should change the web hosting community forever in a positive way. Nice move for paving the way.
soundstoogood | August 30th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
Yahoo just a month ago practically kicked out every costumer with domains registered through them. They rised the price to $35 per domain.
Yahoo could be good for downloands through ftp, for file transfers (downloads only) this deal could be good, but not so sure once a lot of people start using it.
The yahoo web servers as well as the php-mysql servers are pretty unreliable, so keep your old ones for a year or two or as backup.
When you start getting problems at yahoo it is almost imposible to reach their costumer support.

That’s good update information. I Think Sometime we don’t need unlimited traffic if web host serve us with unlimited traffic will be better.
Royal Dragon | November 24th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
I think you can better have a limited host because of all the spammers you get otherwize.
Hosting Admin | January 14th, 2009 at 8:39 am
Do you offer VPS account in your web hosting services? How many dedicated IPs will I be able to have?
Nicki Dugan | January 16th, 2009 at 1:52 pm
@Hosting Admin – Alas, Yahoo! Small Business does not currently support Virtual Private Servers or Dedicated IPs within our Shared Web Hosting product.
Titanic Hosting | March 14th, 2009 at 9:32 am
I’ve tried the hosting and for $11.95 a month its dirt cheap.
Mooie campings | May 19th, 2009 at 4:37 am
Wow this is a good deal. I’ll try it!
Royal Dragon | July 7th, 2009 at 8:18 am
Is this US only?
Nicki Dugan | July 14th, 2009 at 9:11 am
@Royal Dragon: Our Web Hosting plans are primarily designed for the US market, but they may be purchased by international customers if the transaction can be settled in dollars. Please note that we do not offer international domain name extensions (like .ca, .de, .jp, etc.).
