Hot or not?

You’re busy. You read fast. You have a lot more blogs to go today. But before you move on, wanna take two seconds to give us a little feedback? We’ve just added an insta-ratings system to every post, which will help us get a sense for what you dug and what outright bombed (it’s ok, thick skin). In each post footer, you’ll find five dots. Click, boom, done.
To aid you in your rating decision-making, here are some suggested criteria for selecting from one to five dots:
5 — Epic. That’s what I’m talkin’ about.
4 — That rocked. Though it could’ve used a little more je ne sais quoi.
3 — That hit the spot. Thanks.
2 — Meh.
1 — Wow. That sucked. No more of that, please.
Note that you can only rate a post once. So don’t get trigger happy. Thank you kindly.

The issue with the blogs is that they are read inside the RSS feed readers (like Google Reader or Bloglines), unless you force the reader to come to your website by putting half blogs or snippets. So in case of Yahoo Anecdotal, which thankfully, delivers full blog with RSS, readers may not actually come to the blog website. So this rating may not truly help you get the desired volume of feedback.
Of course you have the right numbers for size visitors.

Great feature! I am regular at Yahoo Blogs but I am not always in the mood for direct comments… Now I can express what I feel without running after my portuguese to english dictionary… :-P

Yes, I like the ratings system quite much. Now if only the ease of use and workability could be factored into yahoo 360 or its new profile system, the world would be a more peaceful place to live in!

@techmine - an excellent point about limitations of ratings with RSS readers (the very same limitations that multimedia like videos have, so it’s a tradeoff). But we’ll take what we can get! And glad you dig the design.
@Alexis - that’s exactly why we figured it would be mutually useful… I find comments aren’t always the best gauge for whether a post went down well, nor am I always in the mood to comment somewhere. But ratings are pretty effortless and should help generate content everybody gets something out of.

Hello there,
This is good feature you have added here. This will sure provide more ways to interact with Yodel visitors and Yahoo! lovers. :-D

@nicky I believe techmine is spot on. But I’m sure the geniuses at Y! might hack something that would work even through RSS feeds. That would be really nice if I could rate the posts straight from my Netvibes.
