Let me try to feel the pulse of a specific product...

With the year now nearing the end, I can't help but wonder what the odds are that the mess that is "Profiles" really gets to be something after all. Yahoo360, originally and repeatedly promised to be migrated to the "new profiles thing" during this year (retaining all user-generated content, of course), is still there, still slow, broken and bug-ridden, barely accessible, and by and large not useable. The new profiles, forcibly put in effect in an early beta state with ridiculous side-effects, still are running low on features and useability and don't really seem to be making any perceivable progress worth mentioning, or at all. It's almost as if a single coder is idly toying around with both services part-time and without any vision what to do with it and thus not getting anywhere. I expect a company like Yahoo to do much much better, frankly. I expect progress and open communication.

Could we please get a statement on the state of things there and the future outlook? A profile/ID for personal representation and to network around with is pretty much the prime feature of using Yahoo in the first place, anything else rises or falls with that. I'd really like to know if it makes any sense to continue to wait, or if it's wiser to jump ship and use something else than Yahoo. Even my patience has limits. Thanks.

i am sorry about the layoffs, i hope Yahoo! raises to become a dominant force online/mobile soon thereby providing jobs for many everywhere

i liked the introduction to this post
tasty noise is interesting and text to voice for emoticarolers could have been better

-----------------------------------------------------
it is time for many portals to reinvent and for their researchers and scientist to innovate

-lately portals and browsers do the same and have similar features, if this continues, then portal might become obsolete. hence portal should find ways to better reflect or mirror the web

-portals have apps, services and editorial
where the flow is editorial->services->apps and the opposite for browsers. portals should reinvent and redefine its presence online

Yahoo! should reinvent search, i would be glad to help. Talk to me.
