Trend: Franken Fish
With the FDA holding hearings this week on genetically engineered salmon, searches are off the charts on Yahoo!. Some are looking at the pros, searching for things like “is it healthy.” And the cons. Is it safe to eat? If the so-called Franken fish escape, will it have an impact on wild salmon? Women seem most interested in these fish this week making up 55% of searches.
Trend: Get Out The Tailgating Games
Summer may be coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to put away the BBQ grills. Tailgaters across the country are moving their grills from backyards to parking lots as college and NFL football seasons push forward. People are looking up rules for tailgate toss, ladder toss, corn hole on Yahoo!. One place to look for tips is tailgating.com, created by professional tailgater Joe Kahn, the self-proclaimed commish of tailgating.
Trend: Dancing With The Stars
On the TV side, Yahoo!'s seeing a huge spike as expected for "Dancing With The Stars." There is a lot of buzz on who's cutting the rug this year including Bristol Palin, "The Situation," and David Hasselhoff. Anything can happen, searches on the cast are up 846% this week. Dirty Dancing alum Jennifer Grey is also on the show this season, searches are up 1,500% on Jennifer.
