Each week Yahoo! brings the most interesting and quirky trends to the forefront and Web Trend Expert Pam Woon highlights them on local and national broadcast. Searches for the iPad, a recent ban by the NBA and Taylor Swift a soaring to the top of the Yahoo! Search engine. Check out the weekly video from ABC News.

Trend: NBA Bans Concept 1 Shoes

For the first time in its 64-year history, the NBA has banned a new line of sneakers – they’re called the Athletic Propulsion Lab Concept 1 shoes and they’re designed to increase a player’s vertical leap. They cost around $300 a pair. Searches have been spiking this week on Yahoo! for these shoes. People are interested in pictures of the shoes and the latest news around this band.

Trend: Country Music Darling Taylor Swift
Now, to the world of music, the sweetheart of the search engines is the lovely, talented Taylor Swift. There are always big Search numbers on Yahoo! For Taylor – but a heapin’ helpin’ of searches this week related to the lyrics of a song that hasn’t even been released yet – it’s called “Dear John” and the online buzz is that it’s about a little fling Taylor had with singer John Mayer. Searches are up 950% for Taylor Swift songs on Yahoo!.
