The State of the Union address buzzed online this week, news of Fitness guru Jack LaLanne’s death sent people scrambling online for information on his juicers and recipes, and the new trend of Pajama Jeans got some online attention.
State of the Union Address
Washington is capturing the web’s attention this week with President Obama’s second state of the union address. The president’s call for civility and his mention of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords sent people searching for updates on her recovery. They also wanted to know more about Representative Paul Ryan, who delivered the republican response – searches for his name spiked 1,100%. And when the president talked about this generation’s “sputnik moment,” queries soared for the Russian satellite launch and how it sparked new spending on scientific research and education.
MTV Skins
MTV’s latest show is grabbing the headlines and the searches on Yahoo!. Searches have been spiking on Yahoo! for all things related to the show from the cast to the advertisers and even the producers. One of the biggest this spikes related to the show came from a word one of the cast members used, the word is Furciferous. One of the stars described his cast mates as furciferous and it sent people running to Yahoo! to find out what the it means. Searches were up 1,600%. Find out more about the show on Yahoo! TV.
Pajama Jeans
First it was leggings then it was jeggings and now it is…Pajama Jeans. The latest fashion trend is causing searches to spike on Yahoo! this week. The majority of searches for the sweatpant-like jeans come from females (73%) and it seems that Texas and Ohio search the most.
