Yahoo! aggregates the billions of searches performed across Yahoo! properties to give the pulse on what people are thinking and talking about. Searches represent the people, an instant poll every moment of the day, looking into the fleeting moods and entrenched attitudes of Internet users across the world. Each week Yahoo! Web Life Editor Heather Cabot explores these trends on local and national broadcast. This week spring fever is hitting the web with searches from allergies to flip-flops spiking. There is no shortage of celebrity news buzzing and even buzz about unique baby names.

Spring Fever
Spring fever is spreading across the web this week. The warm weather has internet users searching for everything from flip-flops to ice cream trucks to allergy remedies.  Seems like the folks suffering most from all of the pollen in the air live in New York,  Pennsylvania, Texas and New Jersey. That’s where the majority of the searches for allergy symptoms and treatments are coming from.  And we are also seeing increasing questions about asthma and natural asthma remedies.

It’s not just coughing, sneezing and watery eyes motivating people to look online for relief – they are also seeking answers  to other warm weather related health questions like “how to treat sun poisoning” and also asking if pedicures are supposed to be painful.  Speaking of toes, it’s time to break out the summer shoes. Flip flops are making a big splash on the web this week.  The top brands include: Yellow Box, Havianas, Reef, Rainbow and Crocs.  Personalization seems to be big as people type into the Yahoo! search engine questions like – “how to decorate flip flops” and “how to make ribbon flip flops.”

Celebrity News
Bristol Palin:
One woman whose new physique is generating lots of buzz is Bristol Palin.  For the first time, she is generating more searches than her mother.  Word of her new reality show and reported plastic surgery sent lots of curious fans to the internet to see photos of Bristol’s new look.
Unique Baby Names: News of Alicia Silverstone’s new baby “Bear Blu” set searches on fire for unique baby names this week --- up 360%. Queries for the most popular baby names jumped 620% this week.  It’s not just the names, they also want to know what the names mean.
