Yahoo! aggregates the billions of searches performed across Yahoo! properties to give the pulse on what people are thinking and talking about. Searches represent the people, an instant poll every moment of the day, looking into the fleeting moods and entrenched attitudes of Internet users across the world. Each week Yahoo! Rupert Murdoch Saga
For the second week in a row, Rupert Murdoch dominated searches on Yahoo! as the media mogul and his son faced a hearing before the British parliament. Heat Wave Hits US
And the deadly heat wave that’s claimed the lives of twenty two people also commanded people’s attention online this week. The scorching weather zeroing in on the east coast right now spurred lots of look ups for how to handle the heat including even some quirky searches for air conditioned clothing! Searches for "heat index calculator" have heated up 161% — the calculator's available through the National Weather Service and helps you judge what heat your body actually feels after taking in account both heat and humidity — but the calculator doesn't include direct sunlight, which can raise body temps by as much as 15 degrees. People are also checking "heat exhaustion symptoms" (83%), and "heat stroke symptoms" (+21%).

Celeb Buzz
Lots of buzz this week about Maya Rudolph’s new baby boy – searches for the Saturday Night Live alum are up three-hundred sixty-eight percent. Fans also wanted to know more about rocker Gwen Stefani’s new clothing line for babies – and lots of interest in why tennis star Caroline Wozniacki was having dinner with golf champ Rory McIlroy – just a day after the US open winner split with his longtime girlfriend. A blogger snapped photos of the two looking cozy at a London café Sunday and now look-ups for Caroline jumped more than 300% this week.
