With the Yahoo! Widget Engine already available in millions of living rooms globally, today we’re announcing an expanded partnership with Sony, bringing TV Widgets to Sony BRAVIA LCD TVs in more than 100 countries – increasing the number of markets where Yahoo! TV Widgets are available by nearly seven-fold.

In our earliest days of bringing the Yahoo! Widget Engine to TV, we knew that we had a compelling product to address a rapidly growing market of more than 70 million consumers that interact with Internet content while watching TV. Addressing this consumer need also creates an economic opportunity for TV manufacturers, publishers, advertisers, and our more than 7,000 registered developers.

Launched in January 2009, we have distribution partnerships with five of the top 10 TV manufacturers around the world, including Sony, Samsung, LG, VIZIO and HiSense. As we look to increase distribution and reach the broadest audience possible, we have partnered with silicon and integration partners including MIPS Technologies and Sigma Designs as well as new OEM partners like ViewSonic – enabling consumers to get the Yahoo! Widget Engine on set-top boxes, media players, Blu-Ray players, DVDs, DVRs and other devices that connect directly to the TV.

As we work to deliver innovative and compelling experiences to consumers, global partnerships, like this one with Sony, drive the industry forward and enable developers to achieve scale and reach engaged audiences on an entirely new level.

Here is a demo of Sony’s experience and more on the news with Roger Urrabazo, a product lead for Yahoo! Connected TV.

What do Jennifer Lopez, live animals, giant bananas, and a guy sitting on a couch watching TV have in common? They all contributed to the success of Yahoo! TV’s Primetime in No Time, which just streamed its 500th episode!

But the real contributor to the success of PiNT has been you, dear viewer. Because of you, our popular TV recap show has even more reasons to celebrate…we’ve reached more than 365 million streams, 12 million of which were on one day for Jennifer Lopez’s fall during the American Music Awards. Note to celebrities: please fall down more often and feel free to interrupt Taylor Swift any chance you get. Man, I love LIVE TV! And you guys are spending an average of 6 minutes on our page. Our show is only 3 and a half to 4 minutes long. This is why we love you!!!

We’ve had some good times on PiNT. Remember when Donald Shultz from Wild Recon brought live animals on the set? And who doesn’t love the skits where I get to sing and dance. And of course, my personal favorite — the Steelers winning the Superbowl. It’s their 6th by the way!

But it wasn’t all good times, for me anyways. My least favorite moment was getting sucker punched, falling off of some giant bananas and more torture all in the name of good television as a guest on ABC’s hit show Wipeout. As you are reading this, know that I am still in pain but will continue my TV watching duties. Hopefully I will still be able to have children after my final crash.

Let’s not forget to thank the many special guests who visited the PiNT studio in Los Angeles including the Glee Kids who were really jealous of my voice; reality show contestants from Survivor (thanks for showering before coming in) and The Bachelor/ The Bachelorette; actor Harry Hamlin and comedienne Margaret Cho.

But back to you, dear viewer. Thank you for watching Primetime in No Time on Yahoo! TV, for following me and Yahoo! TV on Twitter (@franknicotero and @yahootv), and for making us THE most popular online video show.

-Frank Nicotero

My name is Frank Nicotero, and I’m a comedian and the host of a WILDLY popular short-form program on the Web – if I do say so myself – called Primetime in No Time on Yahoo! TV. The show, otherwise known as PiNT (’cause who doesn’t enjoy a good booze reference) recaps the best watercooler moments from the previous night in all of three minutes. See, I stay up late watching Jimmy Fallon attempt comedy and Spencer and Heidi attempt dramedy so that you can be the king or queen of morning kitchen conversation without going through the trouble of watching it all.

It’s been less than two years since we launched this show, so you can imagine my astonishment when we surpassed over 280 million streams and became the most watched show in the history of the internet. As a longtime comedian and TV host, I was used to going it alone onstage and was content to continue doing so as the one and only host of the one and only original program on Yahoo! TV, but a partner in crime would be so much cooler! Enter my fearless counterpart, Nikki Boyer, and Daytime in No Time on Yahoo! TV, a show recapping – you guessed it – the best moments of daytime TV. Really, what is a conversation around the company coffee pot without all the daytime TV details to gossip about too?! Nikki and I quickly ruled the roost over here at Yahoo! TV. We got matching mugs and took all our lunch breaks together (ok, actually, we tape at different times, but we would if we could), and before we knew it, we learned our twosome would become a foursome.

The tribe had spoken; Yahoo! TV decided that you the viewers should get a say in the best moments of the week in television. What a great concept, huh?!
My newest friends, and hosts of the recently launched interactive show What’s So Funny? on Yahoo! TV, Shira Lazar and Mike Bachmann, debate the absolute funniest clips on TV from the day prior in a he said, she said format.

She of CBSNEWS.com, Reelz Channel and The Tomorrow Show with Mo Rocca fame, amongst many other hosting gigs, and he of ABC Family’s hit “Make it or Break it,” guest starring gigs on Gilmore Girls and Ugly Betty and my personal favorite – a writer for PiNT. Monday through Friday these seasoned vets engage in friendly banter regarding the merits of the clip each has chosen from the previous day, but viewers get to make the ultimate decision by casting in votes. Over the weekend, Shira and Mike reveal the winning clip from each night and present the “Top 5 Funniest Clips of the Week,” as selected by Yahoo! viewers.

It’s a great show, and I must say, I’m so proud to see the family growing. So “suit up,” enjoy the ride and welcome to the team, Shira and Mike, and just remember, I like my coffee with two sugars and creamJ You know you love me.

xoxo,
Papa Frank Nicotero
